How long do they live ?

I have a blue carpet & have had it for years now. How long can anemones live ? This picture of it was taking back on 6-19-04. I had it much longer. Sorry the picture is bad. The camera wasn't very good & I wasn't any better at using it. This thing loves to eat other clowns. It will host all of the clarkii clowns.

Anemones can essentially live forever. They have no natural lifespan. Though they can live from a few hours to a few years in captivity depending on the system.

Clowns can live for up to 25 years in captivity.... less in the wild.

Very nice carpet BTW!

Thank you WDLV.

I was told by a few locals that the blue carpets dont live long is why I was asking.

I have a GSMC that I have pictures of back in 03. I have had her much longer then 03 but that is when I got my first digital camera so thats when the pictures started. She is a peach very sweet fish. I got her her first BO last year & it was love @ first site. They had eggs two week later. It was so kool. I found them while we had a few members over from the local fish club. We all enjoyed seeing them.

What kind of clowns should this carpet host ?

I presume by the color that it's a mertensii. Honestly aside from clarkii, I'd have to look it up. Clark's can go in any host.

If it's a haddoni, it will host polymnus and clarkii for certain possibly others.

Both types are excellent fish predators, so be careful to have some moonlighting for the safety of the other tank residents.

Thank you. It is a S. Haddoni & it seems to like the Clarkiis. The first pair I had with him laid eggs alot. I moved that pair to a 75g that had 2 RBTA in it. I bought a pr of Perculas for it but it ate them. Now it has another set of clarkiis. My GSMC wouldn't go near it. She was smart.

It hasn't fooled with any of my other fish in the past & has been in this tank for a long long time with just the clowns. Thanks for the heads up on the moon lights. Nice idea. Will do that if it goes back into a full tank of fish later down the line. I just got a new tank for it & the clown fish that is drilled & is blacked out on 3 sides. Thought the blue would look great with all the black sides.

Thanks for your help.
