M. doorensis is found in those waters per Fautin and Allen's maps. There are often species of anemonefish that are not found in association with anemones that live in their waters.
I have seen errors in the book too but of the errors I can cite, they have to do with new information being found since publishing like the description of a new species. Specifically A. barberi; for which Dr. Allen did the write up. My other arguement is that A. thiellei is not the hybrid cross as described... but mine a belief that few people share.
Dr. Allen's job (at least part of it) is to do fish counting surveys. As such I would take it that most of what is in the book either cites other credible sources like Dr. Burgess or else is first hand accounts of what Dr. Allen has seen in the field.
