I've been through the diatom phase already. Now I have blue/green cyano covering all the rocks. I don't know if there are phosphates being leached out of the rock or if it's just because it's an un-established bio filter. I decided pretty early on to swap the perc that was in there with my ocellaris pair. Sunday I decided to remove the sculpture in favor of more unobstructed flow and more swimming room.

the rock wall looks awesome ... but I think it looks pretty scary for those two black o .. can't you put in some LR or corals :P

There's nothing new to report that warrants pictures, but I did want to state (if for no other reason than record keeping purposes) that when I arrived back from NC yesterday I noticed a vast reduction (~50%) in the amount of blue/green cyano and an increase in the amount of diatoms where the cyano had disappeared. Also, I changed the skimmer cup before I left Thursday. This morning I noticed that the skimmer cup was overflowing with skimmate. This is a little over par for the course I think. I'll probably do another 50% WC tonight or tomorrow using old reef water.
