Latz info?

Hey guys. I'm getting very serious about bringing home a Latz at the LFS thats been there a few weeks. She's big and healthy looking but she seems kind of glum being stuck to just a store tank without much room or reef to hang out on.

I am having a very hard time trying to find a care sheet so have been asking some of the great locals I know about her to see if she's viable in my tank.

She's pretty big and I'm wondering if a 55g thats been established for 8 monthswould be enough for her. I have a pair of clowns in there already that I would take out and move to another tank.

The other stock would be a midas blenny, duskey blenny, longfin fairy wrasse, possum wrasse, cleaner goby

I don't think she'd have a problem with these guys but I don't have an anemone in the tank so I'm not sure where she would mark as her territory. So far she seems very docile as a clown and isn't protecting any of the tank deco stuff in the store right now. She's got a personality that is like "I'm not fat just big boned please love me"

I'm just wondering if she might be too big for a 55.. she's full sized.. 4-5"

In a month or so I will have my other tank up and running- the other pair of clowns will wait at the store to go back home into that one and once its ready I will shift some coral over to it and could put in an anemone for her

What do you think?

members of the sebae complex tend to get spooked easily . an anemone will help , i would rec. h. crispa as it's the natural host . would be better for it to have a anemone to dive into for security . imo temp's are best kept around 72º-75º .
btw how much is it selling for ?

Well if she does get spooked i have a lid on my tank to keep the blenny in already. I will have to see about getting an anemone in good condition and if I can squeeze it in with my corals. I'll be doing a lot of rearranging to make a home for her for sure.

My best guess is she'd probably host my brain coral unless I could fit an anemone in ahead of time. I just never had one before since my misbars hosted in my veggie clip and I was afraid of it stinging corals

I'm not 100% sure of the price. The shop owner and I still need to work that out but I am doing the research and convincing the husband part right now before I take her home. I think it will be in the $200 range if it helps any

problem is when members of the sebae complex get spooked they may collide with the tank and put an eye out or worse . don't count on it finding a surrogate host , imo best to have an h. crispa anemone . good luck

Thanks for the advice guys :) Let me get the picture of my clown in the veggie clip so you can see how silly it looks

Yeah I'd probably have my LFS order an anemone and hopefully get it settled in first and then bring home the big momma so she'll feel more comfortable and secure and not be confused at her choices for hosting. Got some rearranging to do but my LFS is awesome and will probably help me out with it

A friend of mine also suggested that because I have T5s (teklights 4x54 w\individual reflectors) I might try to find a large BTA for her to host in and that it may suit her needs and do better under my lighting.

Any thoughts there? He also said an LTA might do okay but h. crispas and T5s are a little iffy?

In a year or so I'll have a 125g with MH running but I just can't set that up financially right now so I'm thinking if I can make a comfy setup for this girl for now in my 55g she'll have run of the big tank once its up and running

my current h. crispa is under 4 x 54w t5's / ind. ice cap parabolic reflectors and doing fine .
the last one that i had did well , it colored up from being practically all bleached when i got it and grew from 3.5" to >12" in a year under 6 x 32w zoomed™ t8's / flat coralife reflector .
i would stick with it's natural host , latz are exclusive with h. crispa in the wild . a big lats will be hard on a small bta as bta's don't always stay large due to it dividing . also as bta clones wander they damage corals in their path .

Mine hosts a cabbage leather . He's a small guy, though. When he gets a mate(soon) and when he gets a bigger tank they'll be in an anem

Thanks so much again guys for your input.

For mp9 where in your tank do you have your H. Crispa? Midway up? toward the top? I am willing to try one and put it in first so it has time to settle and already cleared a spot for it today mostly. My only concern is if it would be a happy place to place it and if being midway up in my 55 (say 12-18" give or take from the lighs themselves) would be enough
