Do you pay for labor or you do this all your self?

We have cheap utilities here due to a TVA dam (live on a lake (Cherokee) and the dam is actually 3m away within view of the house). The utilities here pump water from the lake as source-water too.

What's the electric cost per month?, that's what I want to know:)

If you must know :-D , the bill last month was ~$450, but that includes cooling a large house (in this hemisphere this time of year), and TVA power and co-oping makes power cheap here, ~5-6 cents/ KWH.
EDIT: oh, and there are waterfalls outside with large pumps that really pull a lot of juice...

I have a couple of part-timers helping me out, makes it easier for me to be able leave once-in-a-while.

gday matt,
i am about finished my broodstock system (finally), so need to start planning my juvi growout. so a couple of questions for you, or anyone else.
what dimensions are the "standard 10's" you use?
what would be the max. ammount of fish would you keep in each one?
and just out of interest, how many of those do you actually have?
regards
damien

Hi Damien, the dim's for the 10's here in the US are approximately (L:W:H) 20"x10"x12"
I have put up to 300 juvies in a single tank that size, but of course they need more room as they grow, so it depends on the size of the fish. Usually I try to keep ~100, especially when they get larger. I think larger volume grow-out tanks would probably be better when the fish get larger, but I haven't tried that yet. Anyone else with experience please chime in here...
By "those" you mean growout systems like the ones above? There are three of those systems running (and filled to capacity) and three more in various stages of completion. I've been using only 16 instead of 18 tanks on the newest ones though, so I guess that's cheating a little...

Ahh, ok. I will get around to making a broodstock list eventually for that thread; it's going to be a chore--nearing 50 pairs now (not all spawning of course, and not too many "rare" ones)...I wanted to try to get pictures of all of them too for my "records," so I may be able to post a few after that.
Anyway, I would be interested to hear what experience/suggestions people have for grow-out of fish in larger tanks. I know many hatcheries combine batches into much larger tanks for growout once they are a couple of months old and eating dry diets.
