We say a 20 Gal long, but you don't have to use one. You can use a larger tank if you would like and some poeple are using smaller one's like 10 gal tanks.
A 20gal long is 30 inches or 76.2 CM long

"20 Long" is a standard aquarium size in the US, approximately 76cm long, 30.5cm high, and 30.5cm wide (volume is about 75.7 liters). It is not necessary to use such a tank, but it can be convenient. I have two clownfish pairs spawning in one 20L (with a divider between them), so you don't need such a large tank, but it is probably better to use a larger one than one that is too small. Hope this helps DNA!

I only use live rock as filter. Is it necessary to set light above live rock tank.If do how long should I turn it on. someone tell me that I must turn it on all day(24hours). But there is sunshine irradiating the live rock tank about 5hours everyday. Is it enough?

You will need more filtration than simply live rock if you intend to breed your fish, as it will not be able to process the large amounts of fish waste in a small aquarium. I have large maroons breeding in a 10-gallon tank, but it is connected to a much larger system. It isn't the water volume of the breeding tank itself that matters as much as the filtration capacity and stability of the entire system. A regular lighting schedule also helps the fish to have a "routine" -- I have found that interfering with this schedule will cause problems not so much with the adults but with the eggs, it seems to "confuse" them and they hatch at the "wrong" time...
